China Davison’s Children Chapter 1.3

“I really want to see it right away. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

I nodded: “Understandable. Captain, what do you think?”

She was reluctant. The night was already very late, and she had no intention of staying all night without returning to the ship. However, there is nothing to be afraid of, there is no danger yet.

She nodded and said, “Well, if it won’t bother you, Alexande.”

We divided into two groups. Sam leads the Doctor and a large man to Dr. Cooper. Me, Lillian and another soldier go back to my office.

“I need to make contact with my ship,” the captain said. “They’re waiting for us.”

“You are far away from the spaceship.” I said calmly to him.

There was no reply on her radio.

“That’s how disruptive sunspots are,” I explained. “Communications can only be made within a few hundred yards. We can go back to the clearing, where you can communicate with the spacecraft, or you can wait for someone to be sent from the spacecraft. Came to find you.”

She thought about it for a moment, then said to her guard: “Frank, go back and tell the people on the ship that I’m not going back tonight.”

He walked toward the door.

“I…we can go together,” I said. I don’t like this, I really don’t.

She must have sensed that I was a little uncomfortable, but she let Frank go alone. I can only beg that no one will notice him. Sniff, if only I had stopped him. But, God, what can I do? What can be done? I’ve been trying to control the evening, but none of them listen to me or do what I say.

I can only imagine what Frank must have felt walking alone on the rough dirt track. The scattered wooden houses and plastic houses on both sides of the road were hidden in the dim moonlight and dark leaves, making it difficult to see clearly. The two moons must have been far apart at this time. When Frank walked in the woods, the moonlight would filter through the leaves and cast little shadows on the ground. Our women often go out for walks at night, and so do the animals that are still alive. They are quiet and peaceful at night. Therefore, Frank should not hear animal noises .

But Frank would never tiptoe around the fallen branches. He would step on the branches with solid steps. Maybe this idiot can also whistle and sing a tune.

After a while, he would notice the silence around him. His first reaction must have been to make the sound louder, to show the people of Planet Werner his alien arrogance. However, silence will overcome his arrogance, and eventually, he himself will become silent and even filled with fear.

Although I can’t tell yet, maybe he could still hear her approaching him.

“There’s something I have to tell you,” I said to the captain. “It’s very important that you understand us. Because you and all the aliens will judge us. Only if you speak on our side can we Keep surviving.”

She refuted me first, and then fell silent. I think she must have felt that what I said was right.

“You must know that we men on Planet Werner treat our women as inferior people. In fact, they are indeed inferior. However, you must also know that we love them, very much . Because of this, we can tolerate them shortcomings. We say to ourselves, ‘What can we do? She’s just a woman.’, ‘You can’t expect too much from a woman.’ We say this not out of disrespect for women, but out of respect for us. A woman’s love and tolerance.”

“Your arrival is a threat to them. Don’t you see? You are the same kind as us men. Our women are afraid that we will abandon them for real women. And that is easy to do. You simply I don’t know how the men in Werner felt when they saw you, Captain, Lillian. You are a woman, a real woman. No man here can imagine being with a real woman, What would it be like to be with a woman of the same kind as a man. A woman who is impeccable.

“But Captain, we love our women and we won’t leave them. Even real women can’t let us abandon them.”

“That’s fine, we don’t want you to do that either,” the captain agreed.

“Are you really that sure, Captain?” I asked sarcastically. “What will your civilization think of us? We sleep . If given the choice, our sons will seek Werner’s Should women be wives, or should they find real women? Should our daughters marry, or live in zoos? Will we be laughed at? Our women will certainly be laughed at. You see, Captain, we are not We prayed all night long for headquarters to send a ship. Instead, the arrival of the ship was our worst nightmare. We expressed hostility to you, but our hearts were filled with fear. We were very scared.”

At this time, she held my hand and looked directly into my eyes.

“We will not hurt your women, friends,” she said gently

Our eyes met. This is a good woman. Are all real women like her? If so, how can we resist them? Once we are tempted then what should we do with Chloë, Clara or even Felicity? Then I thought about those two big men and their laughter.

“I don’t think you’re going to respect us, and I don’t think we’re going to continue to respect ourselves,” he said, getting emotional.

She started making promises to me again. Maybe this makes me distrust her even more. A rapid knock on the door interrupted her words.

Before I could open the door, Sam barged in.

“Alix! Felicity grabbed something! She was screaming outside the western perimeter! I’ve never heard her scream like that. Something must have happened!”

“Frank!” I shouted to the captain and rushed out with her.

We ran less than a hundred yards before we figured out where the screams were coming from. Part of me wants to stop, go back to the office, close the door, sit in a chair, bury my head in my hands, and think about nothing but escape. Another part of me wanted to be violent, to rip the guy’s heart out. I’m going to make him miserable, just like I’m feeling right now.

When we arrived outside the settlement, I smelled blood, I smelled her, and worse, I smelled him. I know what they both did.

I ran ahead of Lillian. I was filled with rage and rushed into the thorny woods without any thought.

“Felicity!” I shouted miserably. It’s not because I want her to come to me, but because I want her to know that I’m here. I wanted her to run away, and I knew she would. I didn’t want to see her there when I got to that damn place.

When I finally arrived at the filthy, disgraceful place, Frank was frantically pulling up his pants. I saw bloody scratches all over his body. Big beads of sweat flowed down his dirty body . I could imagine the burning sting he would feel as the sweat . I’ve experienced that feeling many times.

I stood there, glancing into the woods, and saw Felicity running away quickly. How I wish I hadn’t seen this scene. The captain came up from behind me, panting. I could feel her anger. However, before she could get angry, I yelled at Frank: “Damn it, you’re going to hell!”

“Hey, listen, man. That cat-like guy jumped out of nowhere. If she wants that, I’ll…”

“Stop, sir,” the captain shouted, “report to the detention center immediately and put you in solitary confinement!”

He’s still arguing. I didn’t want to face the captain, so I walked away immediately.

When Frank was gone, I fell to my knees and burst into tears. I knew Lillian was right in front of me, but I just couldn’t control it. “Damn it!” I screamed , “How could she do this: I know she was cheating on me with someone else! I have to forgive her because she is not a real person, but…damn it! Where is the dignity?”

I looked at her with pleading eyes.

“Where’s the damn dignity? I love her. But I can’t stand the humiliation. I…I can’t.”

She put an arm around me and we stumbled along for a while.

She repeated over and over: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

I need to have my own dignity. I married something less than human. I love this thing, but she keeps hurting me. How could I treat these alien beings as my own kind? I lost my dignity and asked them to repay my debt, so the following happened. I looked into her clear blue eyes and kissed her, kissed Captain Lillian Dalhout. She kissed me back. We don’t love each other , but I need her. She was very clear about it and cooperative. What an incredible woman.

We return to the office together. To this day I still don’t regret what I did that night. Yes, I have absolutely no regrets.

In the morning, I was woken up by the call . From the dim light coming through the window, I concluded that the sun had not fully risen yet.

Lillian curled up next to me, her head resting on my chest. I moved and woke her up. She raised her head tiredly and smiled at me. That smile seemed to assure me that they would never hurt us.

After the passion that had arisen in my rage was subdued, I had a strange feeling. I’m used to Felicity’s crazy ways. Making love to made me feel ridiculous and I no longer felt like the master. I had a very uncomfortable night . Lillian understood me, she was patient and gentle . This woman is remarkable in every way.

“Alexandre,” she spoke, “what did Joe mean when he said, ‘At least Clara won’t kill her own children?'”

I sighed and said, “Joe is a fool.” I hesitated for a long time, not knowing whether to continue. But he finally said it. “Felicity and I have a son. If he were still here, he would be five years old next month.”

Five years! Has it really been so long? I haven’t thought about that little guy for a long time. Thinking that he should be five years old, my eyes suddenly filled with tears. It took a lot of effort for me to hold back the tears.

“Dan, we named him Daniel.”

“What happened?”

“I did something only a fool would do,” I said. “I paid too much attention to my son.”

“I do not understand.”

“Felicie became increasingly jealous of her son, and one day I came home and found Dan dead. He had fallen from the roof.”

“An accident?”

“How could a one-year-old child get on the roof?” I asked her. Maybe, I’m not asking Lillian, but God.

“We haven’t had any children since.”

“How can you live with her?”

I raised my hands helplessly. How could I explain to this woman what marriage on Planet Werner really meant? It means marrying a lower animal than yourself. Felicity is an intelligent animal. But she was controlled by her emotions. She cannot ignore feelings any more than a rock can ignore gravity. Who should I go to after leaving Felicity? Go for someone like Chloë or Clara? No, she is my wife, I accept her terrible flaws, and, I love her. I couldn’t explain this to Lillian.

There was a gentle knocking at the window. The Zhigengwu has stopped singing, so we think it is tapping rhythmically. We squirmed . Her body is very soft. She clung to me and made me feel calm and happy. We laughed knowingly.

“Should we let the robin see its masterpiece?” I said, lifting the curtains.

Felicity’s face was pressed against the glass. As soon as she saw us, her eyes widened, she yelled and screamed, and scratched the glass crazily with her right hand.

My heart suddenly rose to my throat, and Lillian screamed . The glass was strong, but I knew she would break it sooner or later. We escaped from the room, getting dressed as we ran. There was the sound of glass being shattered behind him.

We ran all the way to Dr. Cooper’s house and banged on the door with our fists. While we were yelling for him to open the door quickly, we kept looking back for fear that Felicity would suddenly burst out from the nearby trees.

We kept knocking on the door until our hands were broken and bleeding. Finally, Cooper opened the door and we both squeezed in, then slammed the door shut. Oh, we actually closed the door, and then there was a fierce banging on the door outside. Lillian screamed and threw herself into my arms.
